NICL Administrative Officers (AOs) Exam Syllabus

NICL Administrative Officers (AOs) Exam Syllabus

Extremely sorry for the late update guys, we have been thinking whether to update it or not because there is no clarity from the organization about the syllabus. But we came to know that some of our friends have been blindly following the syllabus of banking exams to prepare for NICL. But unfortunately the question pattern (especially of General Awareness) is totally different from banks.  So by keeping the NICL Assistants exam which was held on 14th and 21st July 2013 we made this syllabus. We hope this will be helpful for you in your preparation.

Syllabus of National Insurance Company AOs (Administrative Officers) Exam 2013

The exam is for two categories. Generalist and Specialist. For Reasoning, Numerical Ability, General Awareness and Computer Literacy the syllabus will be same. In addition to that for Specialists you should prepare your core subjects (depends on the post which you have applied for). Here is the sectional wise syllabus.
Test of Reasoning : This section will be similar to any bank po exam. Our reasoning material is more than enough to clear this section. In clerical exam they have focused on Analogy, Coding, Series etc. Concentrate on following areas.
  • Ranking
  • Classification / Odd man Out
  • Directions & Distance
  • Seating Arrangement
  • Mathematical Operations
  • Statements and Conclusions
  • Blood Relations
  • Data Sufficiency
  • Syllogism
  • Series Completion
  • Analogy
  • Classification
  • Coding-Decoding
  • Non Verbal Reasoning
Numerical Ability : Last time (for clerical exam) they have followed the similar strategy of SSC CGL Exam. They have asked questions from  Data Interpretation (Pie Chart, Line Graphs), Mensuration (areas and volumes), Trigonometry, Trains, Speed and Distances, Algebra, Partnerships etc.
Computer Literacy : By using the word literacy, they just intend to check your basic knowledge of Computers. That means, they are not expecting you to be experts in Computers. So you just should prepare basic concepts of Hardware and Software, their functionalities, MS Office, Computer related Terminology for this section. For this section our Computer Knowledge material is more than enough.
General Awareness : This was the heart breaking section for NICL Clerks exam. People have expected questions from Current Affairs but they have asked questions from General Knowledge. So you should prepare basic topics of Geography, History, Polity , Economy and General Science (Physics and Chemistry). And guys please don't neglect Current Affairs as the exam is totally unpredictable.
English Language :
There are two sections in English. Objective and Descriptive.
for objective english you should prepare
  • Basic Grammar & Vocabulary
  • Sentence Completion
  • Sentence Correction
  • Word Replacement
  • Fill in the Blanks
  • Reading Comprehension
  • Sentence Rearrangement
for Descriptive you should prepare
  • Essay writing
  • Precis writing and
  • Comprehension Writing.
Below are the materials for Descriptive writing which we have earlier posted for SBI PO Exam. Hope these will helpful for you in your preparation.

Descriptive Paper Study Material:

  • Precis Writing Tips
  1.  Introduction
  2. How to write Good Precis for SBI PO Exams ?
  3. Approach to Precis Writing
  4. Important Techniques to Compress the given data for Precis Writing
  5. Precis Writing Examples
Note : For Specialist Officers posts inadition to the above mentioned topics you also should prepare your graduation subjects (technical& professional knowledge in the relevant discipline).
To get a better idea, read reviews of NICL Assistants Exams from here. If you have any questions / issues on above mentioned syllabus, please feel free to use the comments section below to ask. All the Best :)

Review of RBI Grade B Exam held on 17-08-2013

Review of RBI Grade B Exam held on 17-08-2013

Friends, here is the review of today's (17th August 2013) RBI Grade B Exam shared by Manoj Kumar Gupta. We thank him for his great support and wish him great success in his exam.
The overall paper was very easy we must say. Almost all are expected and direct questions (ofcourse Reasoning was devil for me). Those people who prepared well could easily get more marks in this paper. And guys as the paper was very easy, I guess the cutoffs will go very high so better give your best.

here is the sectional wise review of today's RBI Grade B Officers Exam

Quantitative Aptitude : Almost 20 questions from Data Interpretation. Some of the other sections are problems on ages, speed, time and distance, series etc. It was one of the easiest section.
General Awareness : Not so easier, but almost all are direct questions. Prepare current affairs and Banking Awareness. Topics on inflation, recession, first women bank of India, repo rate, budget, 14th finance commission etc
English Language : It is also very easiest section. The difficulty level is not even similar to bank PO exams. The structure is similar to bank exams with those passage and fill in the blanks etc.
Reasoning Section : As I've already mentioned this is the toughest area of my paper. Ofcourse it may be because of my lack of preparation. All questions are direct but time taking. They mainly focused on puzzle type questions. So you should manage your time properly for this section.
Here are some questions asked in today's exam, some I remember and other I picked from some facebook groups. Hope these may help..

Questions asked in today's RBI Grade B paper

  1. Question on Basel III Norms
  2.  Question on Cash Reserve Ratio
  3. Name of the president of Pakisthan
  4. Who decides Repo Rate in India?
  5. Who decides the distribution of income between the states and centre?
  6. What is Budget?

Shortnotes on MS Office for Competitive Exams - Introduction

Shortnotes on MS Office for Competitive Exams - Introduction

Friends, now a days in every competitive exam they are asking questions from Computer Knowledge / Awareness section. So, today we shall discuss about MS Office, one of the crucial areas of Computer Knowledge section. After completion of reading this post you will be able to answer the basic questions from MS Office, Its Types, Functionalities and Usage.
What is MS Office ?
The word MS stands for MicroSoft (an American multinational software corporation who is the developer of Office). In simple words we can say that MS Office is a computer Programme / Software which is use to perform various office related tasks making files, drawing graphs, typing letters, creating tables, making Presentation  etc. MS Office is a suite of productivity tools consisting of word processing, spreadsheet, database, presentation and personal information. In simple words its a virtual representation of all the tools you use in your Office. It comes as a combination of MS Word, MS Excel, MS Powerpoint, MS Publisher etc.
These applications are intimately connected to each other. I mean, information can be shared among multiple applications. For example, you can insert part of an Excel spreadsheet in a word document, or you can use data from Outlook schedule to build a Power Point presentation. This type of facility is often referred to as Object Linking and Embedding
Versions :
  •  MS Office 1.6
  • MS Office 3.0
  • MS Office 4.0
  • MS Office 4.2
  • MS Office 4.3
  • MS Office95
  • MS Office97 Std, Pro, Dev
  • MS Office 2000
  • MS Office XP
  • MS Office 2003
  • MS Office 2007
  • MS Office 2010
  • MS Office 2013
Note : While writing this post my brother asked, "Why don't you include Vista, 7 and 8 versions??". Guys, don't be confused with the versions of Windows and MS Office. Windows is an operating system. For which you have various versions like Microsoft Windows 95, 2000, 2003,  ME, XP, Vista, 7 and 8. Microsoft Office is just an interactive software which helps you to make your office work simpler. These both are not same. Even you can run your computer without using MS Office software in it.
And one more thing you should keep in mind is, we Indians are still using  MS Office Versions 2000 and XP in government offices. So the questions will be focused on those versions only.
The most of GUI and and Control features are common to all the applications of Microsoft Office. Some of the important application programs of MS Office suits include are :
  • MS Word : It is the word processing application that allows user to create documents and reposts.
  • MS Excel : It is a spreadsheet Application that allows users to develop spreadsheets and display data in various tabular and visual formats.
  • MS Power Point : This is a presentation application that allows users to create multimedia presentations for displaying information in a graphical format.
  • MS Access : It is a database application that stores information that can be manipulated, stored, and filtered to meet users specific needs.
  • MS Outlook : It is a desktop information management application that includes tools like e-mail, document management and calender scheduling.
  • Front Page : It is a web page editor application that allows users to create professional looking web pages for the Internet.
Based on the version there are other types of applications too. But for competitive exams, first three from the above mentioned list are enough.
That's all for now friends. In our next post we shall discuss the usage of MS Office along with functionalities. Happy reading :)
