12 JULY
- Legendary Bollywood actor Pran died on 12 July, 2013 at the age of 93.His full name was Pran Kishan Sikand.He was given the Dadasaheb Phalke Award for his contribution to Indian cinema in 2012.He did more than 350 movies.
13 JULY
- China on 13 July, 2013 cancelled the construction of a six billion dollar nuclear processing plant in Guangdong province apparenly due to public concers over it's safety.The planned industrial park, with a designed capacity of 1,000 tonnes of uranium in 2020, was to feature facilities for uranium conversion, enrichment and manufacturing of nuclear fuel equipment.This is the first nuclear project cancelled by China.
14 JULY
- Indian Grandmaster and former Abhiji Gupta won the 19th Commonwealth chess championship by garnering nine points from 11 rounds at Port Elizabeth in South Africa.
- Phil Mickelson won a thrilling sudden-death play-off against South Africa's Branden Grace to win the Scottish Open at Castle Stuart in Inverness in Northern Scotland.
15 JULY
- The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) on 15 July, 2013 imposed fines of around Rs 49.5 crore on 22 private and public sector banks including SBI, PNB and Yes Bank for violating KYC/anti-money laundering norms. It also gave cautionary letters to seven including Citibank and Stanchart following an expose made by an online portal.

- The Union Government of India on 16 July, 2013 raised the FDI limit in Telecom Sector from 74 percent to 100 percent.

- Union Cabinet of India on 17 July 2013 gave its approval to rename the Bengaluru International Airport as Kempegowda International Airport to fulfil the long-pending demand of the people of Karnataka.

- 18 July was observed across the world as Nelson Mandela International Day to earmark freedom, justice and democracy.
19 JULY
- The ministry of Environment and Forests gave green clearance for an international airport in north Kerala's Kannur district on 19 July, 2013.Kerala today has three international airports at Kozhikode, Kochi and capital Thiruvananthapuram.Kannur airport will be constructed at Keezhallur and Pazhassi Panchayat in Thalassery.
- UNESCO announced on 19 July, 2013 to name South Korean city of Incheon as the World Book Capital for the year 2015.Incheon comes as the 15th city to be crowned with “World Book Capital”, after Bangkok in 2013 and Port Harcourt in 2014.
- Australian spin legend Shane Warne was inducted into the International Cricket Council's (ICC) Hall of Fame.Shane Warne is the 69th male member of the Hall of Fame and the 18th from Australia.

- Former Union minister Khurshed Alam Khan, father of external affairs minister Salman Khurshid, passed away on 20 July,2013. He was 95.

- India bagged a Gold medal in the Women's Recurve Team event at the Archery World Cup Stage-3 in Medellin Colombia.

- Olympian judo player, Manipur's L Brojeshori Devi of Central Reserve Police Force, passed away at Coimbatore.She was 32.Brojeshori was in CRPF Training Centre in Coimbatore since last two months on a Departmental Promotion Training Program.UPA’s special development plan for 82 naxal-affected districts has decreased violence related to left-wing extremism, latest government data shows.

- If you pollute the Yamuna or dump debris on the river bank, get ready to pay.The National Green Tribunal (NGT) bench headed by Swatanter Kumar on 22 July 2013 invoked the Polluter Pays Principle to deal with the problem of pollution and dumping of debris on the Yamuna bank.

- Poverty Ratio in India declined to 21.9 percent in 2011-12 from 37.2 percent measured in 2004-05 on the basis of the increase in per capita consumption. The Planning Commission of India on 23 July 2013 released its report on the Poverty Estimates for 2011-12.
- India’s K. Jennitha Anto became the World chess champion for the disabled after winning the 13th IPCA World women’s individual championship in Velke Losiny, Czech Republic.

- President Obama, in his first punitive response to the ouster of Mohamed Morsi as president of Egypt, has halted the delivery of four F-16 fighter planes to the Egyptian Air Force.

- Himachel Pradesh state government launched video chat facility in all six prisons of the state .The video conference facility, first of its kind in the country, it helps to connect prisoners with their family and friends online.Even foreigners can avail this facility.
- Celebrated biologist Obaid Siddiqi, a scientist nonpareil whose pioneering work shed light on how taste and smell are detected and coded in brain, died following a road accident.

- The Saudi Arabian government awarded $22.5 billion in contracts to three foreign-led consortia on 28 July,2013 for the design and construction of a metro rail system in the capital Riyadh.
- Guiness world record holder Jagdish Raj passes away on 28 July, 2013.He was 85 years of age. (He played police officer in 144 times in various movies).
29 JULY
- If you thought silicon-based transistors were fast, try making electrical switches out of magnetite. Researchers at U.S. Department of Energy's (DOE) SLAC National Accelerator Laboratory recently demonstrated electrical switching "thousands of times faster than in transistors now in use" using the naturally magnetic mineral. This scientific finding will enable faster, more powerful computing devices.

- Sarod maestro Amjad Ali Khan will be conferred the Rajiv Gandhi Rashtriya Sadbhavna award for 2013.The award will be presented to Khan on late prime minister Rajiv Gandhi's birthday Aug 20.Khan received the Padma Shri in 1975, the Padma Bhushan in 1991 and the Padma Vibhushan in 2001.

- Amid tight liquidity conditions, YES Bank on 31 July,2013 announced a hike in lending and deposit rates. It is the first bank to hike lending rates after the Reserve Bank of India announced measures to tighten liquidity on July 15.
- According to Forbes list which is released on 30 July, 2013 Angelina Jolie beat younger rivals Jennifer Lawrence and Kristen Stewart to be crowned this year’s Hollywood's highest paid actress.Forbes estimates Jolie earned a staggering $33 million over the last 12 months.
