NICL Administrative Officers (AOs) Exam Syllabus

Extremely sorry for the late update guys, we have been thinking whether to update it or not because there is no clarity from the organization about the syllabus. But we came to know that some of our friends have been blindly following the syllabus of banking exams to prepare for NICL. But unfortunately the question pattern (especially of General Awareness) is totally different from banks.  So by keeping the NICL Assistants exam which was held on 14th and 21st July 2013 we made this syllabus. We hope this will be helpful for you in your preparation.

Syllabus of National Insurance Company AOs (Administrative Officers) Exam 2013

The exam is for two categories. Generalist and Specialist. For Reasoning, Numerical Ability, General Awareness and Computer Literacy the syllabus will be same. In addition to that for Specialists you should prepare your core subjects (depends on the post which you have applied for). Here is the sectional wise syllabus.
Test of Reasoning : This section will be similar to any bank po exam. Our reasoning material is more than enough to clear this section. In clerical exam they have focused on Analogy, Coding, Series etc. Concentrate on following areas.
  • Ranking
  • Classification / Odd man Out
  • Directions & Distance
  • Seating Arrangement
  • Mathematical Operations
  • Statements and Conclusions
  • Blood Relations
  • Data Sufficiency
  • Syllogism
  • Series Completion
  • Analogy
  • Classification
  • Coding-Decoding
  • Non Verbal Reasoning
Numerical Ability : Last time (for clerical exam) they have followed the similar strategy of SSC CGL Exam. They have asked questions from  Data Interpretation (Pie Chart, Line Graphs), Mensuration (areas and volumes), Trigonometry, Trains, Speed and Distances, Algebra, Partnerships etc.
Computer Literacy : By using the word literacy, they just intend to check your basic knowledge of Computers. That means, they are not expecting you to be experts in Computers. So you just should prepare basic concepts of Hardware and Software, their functionalities, MS Office, Computer related Terminology for this section. For this section our Computer Knowledge material is more than enough.
General Awareness : This was the heart breaking section for NICL Clerks exam. People have expected questions from Current Affairs but they have asked questions from General Knowledge. So you should prepare basic topics of Geography, History, Polity , Economy and General Science (Physics and Chemistry). And guys please don't neglect Current Affairs as the exam is totally unpredictable.
English Language :
There are two sections in English. Objective and Descriptive.
for objective english you should prepare
  • Basic Grammar & Vocabulary
  • Sentence Completion
  • Sentence Correction
  • Word Replacement
  • Fill in the Blanks
  • Reading Comprehension
  • Sentence Rearrangement
for Descriptive you should prepare
  • Essay writing
  • Precis writing and
  • Comprehension Writing.
Below are the materials for Descriptive writing which we have earlier posted for SBI PO Exam. Hope these will helpful for you in your preparation.
