Nobel Peace Prize 2013 Winner - Organization For The Prohibition Of Chemical Weapons (OPCW)

The Organization for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons (OPCW) has been awarded the Nobel Peace Prize for the year 2013 for its extensive efforts to eliminate chemical weapons. The Organization for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons (OPCW) is an intergovernmental organization, located in The Hague, Netherlands. The Norwegian Nobel Committee announced the decision at a press conference held in Oslo today's (11th October 2013) morning, saying it chose the OPCW "for its extensive efforts to eliminate chemical weapons." 

The organization will receive a monetary prize of $1.25 million, to be awarded at a ceremony in December 10, the anniversary of the death of Swedish industrialist Alfred Nobel, who founded the awards in his 1895 wi. OPCW tipped clear favourite 16 year old Pakistani Malala Yousufzai to win the world's top peace prize. Till now the Nobel peace prize has been awarded to 124 Laureates - to 100 individuals and 24 organizations. European Union got this award for the year 2012.
